Hi, I’m Carly, Founder of Sphere Specialist Healthcare.

I have worked in health and social care for around 18 years, beginning my career in domiciliary care and supported living for people with learning disabilities. I quickly progressed into Team Leader roles and made the decision to leave my law studies to pursue a career in care.

After developing a real interest in nursing, I went on to complete my Nursing Degree, qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2012. Before and during my training, I gained experience across a wide range of settings including hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, brain injury rehabilitation, secure mental health services and learning disability services.

Following qualification, I worked within specialist high-dependency neurological rehabilitation, developing extensive experience in complex care including mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, respiratory support, cough assist, enteral feeding, catheters and stoma care. I later worked within respiratory medicine and as a Spinal Nurse Practitioner within the NHS.

Alongside my NHS career, I developed a particular passion for community healthcare, coordinating and managing complex packages of care for people living in their own homes. I loved developing individualised care plans and working alongside support workers to give them the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver complex care safely.

I later moved into senior management within a large community healthcare provider, where I was responsible for improving quality, safety, systems and regulatory performance, successfully improving both CQC and Local Authority ratings.

Following the pandemic and some personal bereavements, I decided to bring together everything I had learned throughout my career and establish Sphere Specialist Healthcare.

I wanted to create an organisation where clinical knowledge and high standards sit alongside compassion, creativity and truly individual care. I believe care should never simply be about completing tasks; it should be about understanding the person, what matters to them and what they want their life to look like.

I remain approachable and involved and enjoy thinking outside the box to help people achieve their goals, maintain their independence and live the lives they choose.

My aim is simple: to provide the standard of care I would want someone I love to receive — safe, skilled, compassionate and centred around the individual.

I am a Registered Nurse with extensive experience across hospital, community and complex healthcare, as well as specialist training and the clinical management of care packages within people’s own homes.

Following qualification, I spent several years working within hospital settings, primarily in general medicine and neonatal intensive care, alongside working as a bank nurse across numerous departments.

In 1987, I moved into Community Nursing as a Community Staff Nurse and later completed an Advanced Diploma in Autonomous Practice, further developing my ability to assess, plan and deliver care within the community.

In 2010, I left the NHS to work for a specialist community healthcare provider supporting people with complex needs. A significant part of my role involved helping individuals return home safely from hospital with highly individualised packages of care, working closely with clients, families, hospitals, local authorities and other professionals.

I was particularly passionate about ensuring support workers were not simply trained in care, but were specifically trained and assessed to meet the individual clinical needs of the person they were supporting.

I also worked closely with Marie Curie, helping to arrange care at home for people approaching the end of their lives, sometimes at very short notice. In 2016, my interest in developing the knowledge and skills of care teams led me to move into specialist healthcare training.

It was during my community healthcare career that I met Carly. We quickly discovered that our different areas of experience complemented one another and that we shared very similar ideas about how complex care should be delivered.

When Carly later established Sphere Specialist Healthcare, I was delighted to support her in developing the organisation and joined the company as Clinical Lead.

Today, I use my years of nursing, community and training experience to help ensure our clients receive safe, individualised and clinically appropriate care at home, while supporting our staff to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to provide it.

Hi, I’m Kerry. I have over 27 years’ experience across health and social care, supporting people with a wide range of needs in a variety of settings.

My career began at just 16, when a work experience placement in a nursing home showed me how rewarding a career in care could be. I quickly developed a genuine passion for supporting others and making a positive difference to people’s everyday lives.

I later moved into community care, supporting people with autism, with a focus on developing daily living skills, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour support. As my career progressed, I moved into senior roles within mental health services and gained further experience supporting people with complex needs, disabilities and acquired brain injuries, alongside undertaking specialist care training.

Throughout my career, I have worked across a diverse range of services, including palliative and end-of-life care, children’s secure services and a specialist children’s transplantation unit. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the different challenges individuals and their families can face and the importance of adapting support to the person.

My desire to continue developing my knowledge and experience eventually led me to my current role as a Case Manager with Sphere Specialist Healthcare.

As a Case Manager, I am passionate about helping clients remain safely and independently in their own homes, ensuring their care is planned around their individual needs, routines and goals. An important part of my role is also identifying suitable support workers and ensuring clients are matched with staff who have the appropriate training and skills to meet their needs.

I enjoy building positive relationships with clients, families, support workers and other professionals and working collaboratively to ensure care remains safe, consistent and responsive as people’s needs change.

For me, good care starts with getting to know the person, understanding what matters to them and building the right support around their life.

Hi, I’m Jasmine. I am a Registered Nurse and Case Manager with Sphere Specialist Healthcare, with over 15 years’ experience working across health and social care.

I began my career as a Healthcare Assistant and Specialist Support Worker, supporting people of all ages, from newborn babies through to older adults. My experience spans a wide range of settings including hospitals, hospices, schools, day services and people’s own homes, supporting individuals with many different health conditions, disabilities and complex needs.

Throughout my career, I have gained extensive hands-on experience in complex and specialist care, including tracheostomy management, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, enteral feeding, chest physiotherapy, respiratory support, stoma care and catheter care.

One of the things I feel most strongly about is that a diagnosis never tells you everything about a person. While understanding a condition is important, I believe it is equally important to spend time getting to know the individual — their personality, routines, preferences, goals and how their condition affects their everyday life.

My professional experience is complemented by my own experiences as a parent navigating complex health and additional support needs. This has given me an understanding of care from both perspectives and particularly of the impact that healthcare, appointments, professionals and support services can have on the whole family, not only the individual receiving care.

Becoming a Registered Nurse has enabled me to build further on my years of practical experience, bringing together clinical knowledge and extensive hands-on care experience within my role at Sphere.

As a Case Manager, I enjoy working closely with clients and those important to them to develop individualised care plans that reflect how they actually want to live their lives. I also recognise how important the relationship between a client and their support worker can be, so careful staff matching is an important part of my approach.

I work collaboratively with families, support workers and multidisciplinary professionals to ensure care remains safe, responsive and appropriate as people’s needs change.

For me, providing excellent care means combining clinical knowledge with compassion, experience and a genuine understanding of the individual and the people around them

Hi, I’m Stewart. I have worked within the health and social care sector for over 15 years, beginning my career as a Carer and progressing through a variety of senior and management roles to my current position as a Case Manager with Sphere Specialist Healthcare.

I spent my first three years working directly as a Carer before progressing through roles including Senior Carer, Team Leader, Unit Manager and Deputy Manager. For the past five years, I have worked as a Case Manager, bringing together my frontline care experience and management knowledge to support clients, families and care teams.

I have a particular interest in mental health and understanding behaviours, including identifying potential triggers and looking beyond behaviour to understand what a person may be communicating or experiencing.

What I enjoy most about working in care is meeting new people, hearing about their lives and getting to know the individual behind the support they require. Having progressed through a variety of roles, I understand care from both a frontline and management perspective and recognise the importance of having a consistent, knowledgeable and well-supported team around each client.

As a Case Manager, I enjoy building positive relationships with clients, families and staff and ensuring that the support we provide is individual, respectful and centred around what matters to the person.

I began my career in care in 2016, joining a large care provider as a Support Worker. I quickly realised that care was an area I wanted to develop within and went on to achieve my Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.

During the Covid pandemic, I was given the opportunity to progress into a Case Manager role. Taking that step helped me develop my confidence, leadership skills and knowledge, and gave me valuable experience supporting both clients and care staff. I also worked through training and qualifications to support my development in this role.

I am passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting people to remain as independent as possible within their own homes. I also really value being part of a team where staff feel supported, encouraged and able to develop.

I am new to the team but am delighted to have joined Sphere Specialist Healthcare and look forward to bringing my experience to the team while continuing to learn, develop and support the people who use our services.
